Have you ever tried fresh sesame paste or watched a smith forge an arrowhead? There is something new to discover every weekend in summer.
Archaeology becomes an exciting adventure in the APX..
The season for Roman Weekends in the APX begins in May and continues until the end of September. Shoemakers and bone carvers regularly demonstrate their craft in the workshops beside the Roman Hostel. Particularly the young visitors like to join them at the workbench.
Don't just watch – join in!
The herbs and crops introduced by the Romans are regularly presented by our herb expert, together with the products made from them to this day.
The herb expert's richly decorated stand is a regular attraction.
The highly varied programme also includes numerous other Roman performers. It is rounded off by free guided tours of current excavations in the APX. "Live excavation" dates are particularly interesting, offering an opportunity to watch the archaeologists at work.
"Live excavation" offers unique insights.
