Nowadays visitors rightly expect an archaeological museum to offer a wide range of activities that meet their personal needs.
Museum educator Marianne Hilke (in the middle) makes sure visitors can learn interesting facts about Roman times. She trains the guides to give the Guided Tours of the APX a personal touch. Moreover, the Hand-on Courses are constantly further developed by her.
Ingo Martell (on the right) has been in charge of public relations at the APX since 2004. Together with Marianne Hilke, the archaeologist is also responsible for events, especially the big Roman festival „Schwerter, Brot und Spiele" (Swords, Bread and Games).
Secretary Renate Kreischer (on the left) supports the team in numerous ways. She handles all incoming phone calls and letters to the APX.
While visitors are welcome to explore the APX on their own, our informative and entertaining guided tours provide deeper insights into life in the ancient Roman city.
All APX guides are well trained part-timers who have learned how to best pass on their knowledge to different visitor groups.
The Guided Tours provide a good overview of the Roman city and Roman life. Guided tours on special subjects can be arranged on request.
Guided tours are also available in English, French, Dutch and Hungarian. Hearing impaired visitors can ask to be accompanied by a sign language interpreter.
